How to Find and Practice Solitude When You Don‘t Live Alone
How do you find and practice solitude when you don't live alone? How do you meditate with all the distractions? How do you create a peaceful place in a chaotic space?
In this episode of Love Always, Self, we discuss
How to do a body check in with yourself to determine your internal needs
How to discuss needs and expectations with others within the household
How to let go of the “to-dos” and just be
Recognizing and acknowledging feelings and learning to validating self
The importance of practicing stillness in midst of chaos
The importance of rest and changing your mindset around what rest is
Prioritizing yourself and your self care
The importance of setting boundaries, not just with others, but maybe with yourself as well.
The difference between distracting and regenerating activities
When determining a peaceful space, discuss with other members of the household to learn about their needs or preferences with the space. Be vulnerable in your needs, too, as this helps create a better understanding of what and why you are doing what you do to care for yourself. It’s not usually what you are trying to say that triggers others, but more often how you are expressing what you are saying.
Once determined, use this space as a sanctuary to try to minimize distractions, practice connecting with self and just being in stillness and silence. Give back to yourself and your energetic needs in this space. Once you’ve had some time to practice being still and in silence, you can begin to add small distractions that don’t require immediate action, and practice letting those distractions pass by you rather than reacting to them. You will be able to practice tuning external noise out and focusing on the internal dialogue of your soul.
