A-Form Your Reality
Affirmations vs Afformations and how this helps with Manifestation
What are affirmations and why do we do them?
Affirmations are a positive statement, in the present tense, that is related to what you want to manifest or create in your reality. This is like a wish-list to the Universe in the form of “I am” statements. Affirmations are helpful in reprogramming the subconscious mind, to encourage us to believe certain things about ourselves, the world, and our place within. When used, affirmations can assist us in resting or manifesting the reality we want. Many times this is often used in terms of making or attracting wealth, love, and happiness, but is definitely not limited to these aspects.
Positive statements, or affirmations, can be used to overcome self sabotaging behavior, negative thought patterns, and limiting beliefs.
Examples of Affirmations:
I am in action moving forward toward making my dreams a reality.
I am connected to all.
I am enough.
I am worthy.
I am abundant.
I accept myself as I am.
I deserve the best. I accept the best now.
I am a creator of my reality and experiences.
What does it mean to manifest?
Manifesting or manifestation is making everything you want to feel and experience a reality, via your thoughts, actions, beliefs, and emotions. We are, literally, accepting and taking responsibility for creating our experiences and reality.
Wherever our focus lies, is where our intentions are set. Whatever we choose to focus our energy, the Universe will take this as an indication or invitation to bring more of that focus into your reality. So when you focus on negative aspects, the Universe will bring forth more of this into your life, so that you are able to learn and grow. Focusing on what you want as if it’s already occurring will assist you in bringing something tangible into your life through attraction and belief.
How are affirmations connected to manifestation?
Affirmations are a part of manifesting. These positive statements can be used to help one’s self to overcome self sabotaging behavior and negative thinking patterns.
Think of repeating these positive statements as an exercise, like doing reps or sets of exercises, but for the brain. Training our brain using positive statements allows reprogramming of neural pathways that may have been initially created throughout a lifetime. This allows for a person’s brain to become stronger, more positive and resilient, when breaking old patterns of limiting beliefs.
But what about when I don’t believe the positive affirmations I am stating?
Sometimes the ego, the conscious mind, fights back in disbelief of these statements and defends it’s negative stance. So instead, change up the statement into a positive question, or an affirmation.
Afformations are basically the question form an affirmation. This works because by using a question, our subconscious mind will be prompted to respond more effectively by searching for the answer from within. Asking questions allows for a greater depth of understanding and validation of the positive statements.
Be mindful of the words you use when working with your affirmations and afformations. Avoid disempowering questions with negative connotative words, like “don’t.” When we say things like “I don’t want to be sick,” then our focus is on the sickness. So instead, state “I am healthy,” or ask “how am I healthy?”
Examples of Afformations:
How am I in action moving forward to realize my dreams as a reality?
How am I connected to all?
How am I enough?
Why am I worthy? How do I define my worth?
How am I abundant? How do I define abundance?
How do I accept myself?
Why do I deserve the best? How can I accept the best now?
How do I create? What do I want to create? What am I creating?
Amplifying the energy of positive affirmations and afformations
When you feel like you are ready to combine practices, using positive statements and questions along with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), or “tapping,” can assist you on your journey toward creating a happier, more balanced life experience. It can be an uplifting experience to use aromatherapy and music with your daily affirmations and afformations.
Whether you choose affirmations or afformations, simply writing them down on a daily basis, reading them, or repeating them aloud will help to retrain your subconscious to refocus on creating the life you desire. Starting the day with affirmations helps to set your day on a path of joy and love. However, any time that you find that works best for you, is awesome!
What we believe about ourselves, at a subconscious level, greatly impacts the outcome of events in life. Wherever you choose to focus your energy, will act as a magnet, drawing in more of the energy and experiences you are focused on.
Choose joy and remember to love always, self!
